January 12, 2009 - Parks and Currins honored as 2009 Coaches of the Year
Last Saturday, January 9th, Coach Currins and Coach Parks were each honored as 2009 Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Coaches of the Year. Coach Currins was named 2009 Class AA Girls Track Coach of the Year for helping lead the Lady Pirates to a runner-up finish at the IHSA State Meet last spring. This was the eighth time Coach Currins has been awarded this honor. Coach Parks was awarded 2009 Class AAA Cross Country Coach of the Year after the Lady Pirates won the state title in his first year of as head coach at Palatine. This is his second time winning this award. This was one of the only, if not the only, times a school has had their track and cross country coaches each honored in the same year.
The coaches would like to thank all the girls for their hard work and dedication, as these awards are attributed greatly to the success of the athletes. They would also like to thank Ruth Allen, Courtney Brown, and Sarah McIntosh for coming and supporting the coaches as they received their awards last Saturday
